WESMEN PLACE 20 ON ACADEMIC ALL-CANADIAN TEAM

Wesmen excel again on the court & in the classroom

WINNIPEG, MB – The Winnipeg Wesmen are pleased to announce their Academic All-Canadians for the 2008-2009 academic year. In total there were 20 athletes who were recognized.

In order to achieve Academic All-Canadian status, a student athlete must finish the academic year with a GPA of 3.0 or better. The Wesmen Athletic Department is proud of the fact that 40% of their student athletes earned Academic All-Canadian status, which is double the national average of 20%. The 2008-2009 Academic All-Canadians are as follows:

“I am pleased that such a high percentage of our Wesmen athletes were able to achieve Academic All-Canadian status. As a student athlete there are incredible demands for your time on the court, in the classroom and on the road during the season. I not only congratulate the players but the coaches and the support staff that believe in our Wesmen tradition of academic importance”, added Athletic Director Doran Reid.
