UWinnipeg well-represented at Fringe Festival

The University of Winnipeg has had a large presence at this year’s Winnipeg Fringe Theatre Festival. From hosting shows at the Asper Centre for Theatre and Film to seeing alumna Tori Popp being named festival manager, there’s UWinnipeg connections almost everywhere!

With only a few days left to see shows, we’ve compiled a (unfinished) list of shows featuring current students and alumni of the Department of Theatre and Film. They’re represented as writers, performers, and directors in more than 10 shows.

The Big Problems (Venue 10) – Current student: Alexandra Gerow (performer). Alumni: Kimberly Martin (writer/performer) and Jaime Anderson (performer).

The Great Pillow War of 96′ (Venue 4) – Tessa Jenkyns, Carly Rackal, Olivia Raine, and Ciera Fredborg (all writers and performers).

Wait, So Do I Make Out with a Pan? (Venue 10) – Marie Kozyra (writer/performer). 

Cob Bob (Venue 2) – Chelsey Grewar (writer/performer) and Matthew Paris-Irvine (performer).

The Headliners (Venue 24) – Current students: Duncan Cox and Tanner Manson (writer/performer). Alumni: Benjamin Townsley.

Purge (Venue 4) – Lindsay Johnson (director). 

Here Together (Venue 8) – Current students: Jack Maier (performer) and Sophie Smith-Dostmohamed (performer). Alumni: Chris Sousa (performer).

Musicals are Stupid: a Stupid Musical (Venue 6) – Jacob Janzen (performer).

Yellow Den (Venue 1) – Jacqueline Loewen, Alyssa Watson (performer), and Victoria Hill (performer).

Jellyfish Are Immortal Returns (Venue 8) – Current student: Sydney Hayduk.

Yeats’s Ghost (Venue 3) – Current student: Sarah Struthers. Alumni: Emma Beech.

Mix Tapes From My Mom (Venue 30) – Alumni: Cory Wojcik.

Outside Joke: The Improvised Musical (Venue 18) – Alumni: Andrea Del Campo, Toby Hughes, and Jane Testar.

So, do you want to talk about it? (Venue 8) – Current student: Ty Ballingall (actor). Alumni: Reba Terlson (co-writer and lead) and Kaeleigh Ayre (director).

#GetItUp: An Actor Prepares (Venue 6) – Alumni: Drew Jensen.

Magic: The Musical (Venue 12) – Alumni: Erica Mitchell (Stage Manager).

Zombies to the Left of Me, Survivors to the Right (Venue 28) – Current student: Brooke Munford.

I lost on Jeopardy (Venue 7) – Contract academic staff: George Buri from the Department of History.
