UWinnipeg Faculty Contribute To Winning Book

Four members of Dept. of Modern Languages & Literature contribute to book that won the Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award

image livre couleurWINNIPEG, MB – Four faculty members of The University of Winnipeg’s Department of Modern Languages and Literature have been recognized for their contributions to a book about Saint-Boniface that won the Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award for 2008.

Honoured Book
Saint-Boniface 1908-2008: reflets d’une ville, an initiative of the Centre d’études franco-canadiennes de lOuest (CEFCO) and published by the Presses universitaires de Saint-Boniface won the honor at the recent Manitoba Book Awards ceremony. The four winning UWinnipeg faculty members are:

  • Co-editor (with André Fauchon, Collège universitaire de Saint-Boniface) and contributor, Carol J. Harvey, Senior Scholar, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures
  • Member of the editorial board and contributor, Glenn Moulaison, Associate Professor, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures
  • Contributor, Joseph Nnadi, Professor, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures
  • Contributor, Laurent Poliquin, Instructor, Department of Modern Languages and Literatures

The Carol Shields Winnipeg Book Award recognizes the best book on the City of Winnipeg. The book will also receive the Manitoba Day Award for 2009 at a ceremony May 7. The Award, presented by the Association for Manitoba Archives, recognizes users of archives who have completed an original work of excellence that contributes to the understanding and celebration of Manitoba history.
