Congrats to our grads Mihychuk and Carr – new federal ministers

University of Winnipeg President and Vice-Chancellor, Dr. Annette Trimbee, offers sincere congratulations to MaryAnn Mihychuk (Kildonan – St. Paul), who graduated from UWinnipeg with a Bachelor of Arts, Honours, in 1979 and Jim Carr (Winnipeg South Centre) a UWinnipeg Collegiate graduate, 1970 and Executive Director of UWinnipeg’s External Relations (in the 1980s).

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that both Mihychuk and Carr have been appointed to the federal cabinet.

“UWinnipeg is known for nurturing strong community leaders and we are honoured that our graduates MaryAnn Mihychuk and Jim Carr will represent Manitoba in Cabinet,” said Trimbee. “We are an integral part of Manitoba’s knowledge economy. Our faculty members are engaged in relevant research on issues ranging from climate change, to homelessness in Canada, to diabetes prevention in the inner city –- research that can help inform Canadian public policy. We look forward to a constructive and collaborative relationship with our team of new MPs.”
