Ukraine – First hand account with Axworthy – April 22

Tensions between Russia and Ukraine have escalated over the past month. Beyond the headlines, what is going on in Ukraine right now? What role can and should Canada play leading up to the critically important May 25th presidential election?

Please join Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, President and Vice-Chancellor, University of Winnipeg, in conversation with Winnipeg Free Press journalist Dan Lett, for a first-hand account of life in Ukraine.  Axworthy just returned from a fact-finding mission to Ukraine with the Washington-based National Democratic Institute.

UWinnipeg’s Vice-President of Finance and Administration Bill Balan, who is fluent in Ukrainian, was also on the mission and will be at the discussion.  In recent years Balan has played a key role in forging a close relationship between UWinnipeg and a number of educational institutions in Ukraine.
