The Duckworth Challenge: Winnipeg’s Two Universities Battle for Sport Supremacy

erfan1-2Teams from The University of Winnipeg and the University of Manitoba will go head-to-head in the 17th annual Duckworth Challenge Thursday, Nov. 1. The women take to the court at 6:00 p.m. followed by the men’s game at 8:00 p.m. The volleyball portion of the cross-town rivalry featuring the Wesmen and Bisons will take place Friday, Nov. 2 at the University of Manitoba. The women’s match takes place at 6:00 p.m. followed by the men’s match at 8:00 p.m.

Regular admission is $8 (adults), free for children 6 and under, and $3 for UWinnipeg students with a valid student ID card.

The Duckworth Challenge began in 1992 as the brainchild of Dr. Henry E. Duckworth (UWinnipeg President, 1971-81 and University of Manitoba Chancellor, 1986-92). The Duckworth Challenge, named in his honour, offers an annual opportunity for friendly competition between The University of Winnipeg Wesmen and the University of Manitoba Bisons.
