New Federal Minister From Manitoba Studied At UWinnipeg

The University of Winnipeg congratulates Shelly Glover, Member of Parliament for Saint Boniface, on her new post as minister of Canadian Heritage and official languages, following a reshuffling in Prime Minister Stephen Harper cabinet. Glover is an associate alumna of UWinnipeg; she studied Justice and Law Enforcement at the university.

Glover is the second consecutive federal minister from Manitoba with a connection to the University of Winnipeg. Vic Toews attended and graduated from UWinnipeg in 1973 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He has also lectured from time to time on various legal and governmental issues at the institution, and received an Honorary Doctorate — UWinnipeg’s highest distinction — in 2010.
