New Chair Board of Regents

Dr. Annette Trimbee, President and Vice-Chancellor, UWinnipeg, welcomes Albina Moran as the new Chair of the Board of Regents, effective July 1, 2016. Albina practices law with Thompson, Dorfman, Sweatman with a focus on commercial law, industrial real estate and property development. She was named in the 2012 – 2015 Best Lawyers in Canada in the area of Real Estate Law.

Albina brings with her a deep and enduring connection to UWinnipeg: she received her Bachelor of Arts here and served on UWinnipeg’s Alumni Council; she was Vice-Chair of the Board of Regents, Vice-President of the Governance Committee and Member of the Audit Committee. She also serves on the Board of Directors for The University of Winnipeg Foundation. The University looks forward to her contributions and guidance as Chair of the Board of Regents.

On behalf of the entire UWinnipeg community, Trimbee extends a heartfelt thank you to outgoing Chair, Eric Johnstone. Eric served as Chair for two years and during his tenure offered invaluable advice. He participated extensively in the 2015 Strategic Directions consultations, attended numerous ceremonies and events including Convocation ceremonies and dinners, fundraising events, media announcements, and award ceremonies, and always encouraged broad and robust conversation at the Board table. His calm demeanor, collaborative leadership style and deep insights have been appreciated by all. Eric is also past-Chair of the Finance Committee and past member of the Audit Committee. He will continue his service as Past Chair of the Board as well as member of the UWinnipeg Foundation.

Members of our Board of Regents are hardworking and dedicated volunteers who give their time and expertise as a public service. They immeasurably strengthen the health, diversity and governance of UWinnipeg.
