It’s Serious Games at DCE Summer Camp

WINNIPEG, MB – This summer it’s serious fun with games and design at The University of Winnipeg’s Division of Continuing Education (DCE). DCE is offering two unique summer computer programs: Serious Games in July and Web Design in August.

Students Develop Rlevant Skills
These four-week summer immersion camps were developed in consultation with Project Whitecard, Winnipeg’s premier game development studio. Students develop relevant skills and knowledge that will help them in their future careers. The programs are open to anyone 16 years or older and no prerequisites are required.

One-up Your Peers
“These summer camps, are an exciting and unique opportunity for students to prepare themselves for the technologies of the 21st Century, said Khal Shariff, CEO of Project Whitecard, our partners for the Serious Games Summer Camp. “Developing proficiency in the Unreal Engine in the Serious Games Camp, students will engage in small teams and prepare playable game levels in an unmatched atmosphere, which gives you a chance to one-up your peers.”

Serious Games Camp
Serious Games Camp is a four-week immersion program in which students experience the game design and development process as practiced in the games industry today. They will learn game design skills using sophisticated software, then join a development team to build a playable video game that the team presents at the end of the camp.

Web Design Camp
Web Design Camp is a four-week immersion program in which students can experience the design and development process of building a website from planning to launch. Professional software tools such as Photoshop, Flash and Dreamweaver will be taught as well as some of the basic code (XHTML, CSS) to design and build a website.
