Former Wesmen Star Competing for England at Commonwealth Games

The Winnipeg Wesmen is pleased to announce that former women’s basketball star Sally Kaznica will be competing for her native England in the 18th Commonwealth Games which takes place in Melbourne, Australia from March 15 – March 26, 2006.

Kaznica, a native of Felixstowe, England played for the Wesmen for five seasons (1999-2004). She appeared in three CIS Womens Basketball Championships, winning two bronze and one silver medal. Kaznica was named a second team Canada West All-Star in 2003-2004. In her rookie season she was named to the CIS All-Rookie Team. Sally also excelled in the classroom as she was an Academic All-Canadian.

After graduating from The University of Winnipeg, Sally spent most of her developmental years playing for the Ipswich Basketball Club. She has gained representative honours at every level, from leading her former school to Regional and National Championships where they became National Champions.
