UWinnipeg students can discover what is intellectually brewing on campus by their fellow students. Students in the Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications department are inviting students from across disciplines to showcase their work at the first Students. Ideas. Coffee. (SIC), inspired by TED Talks. Students are encouraged to present a project they have worked on in five minutes or less, in any style, any format. The evening includes cadence, conversation, coffee and snacks. Everyone is welcome.

“We want to encourage students to share their work with their colleagues,” expressed Gabby Garcia, a fourth-year Rhetoric, Writing, and Communications student. “Many students create great work and only share that with their professor. SIC will allow students to reach a wider audience, and also encourage further discussion on topics that matter to them, which we think is important.”

Presentations include comedy, film, music, poetry, and papers students have written.

“It is inspiring to see talented and energetic students from different departments taking a lead in organizing and promoting this new initiative,” said Helen Lepp Friesen, academic writing instructor.

If you are interested in joining or presenting at SIC please contact Tyler at studentinspiration@gmail.com.
