Everyone invited to Convocation June 7 and 8

University of Winnipeg Chancellor Robert Silver and President & Vice-Chancellor Dr. Lloyd Axworthy invite the media and the public to attend The University of Winnipeg’s 2012 Spring Convocation ceremonies, to be held at the Duckworth Centre (Spence Street at Ellice Avenue).

On Thursday, June 7th; 9:30 am to 12:00 noon:

  •  Degrees will be conferred in Arts.
  • An Honorary Doctorate of Laws will be conferred upon Bob Kozminski.

Also being honoured at the Thursday, June 7; 9:30 am ceremony:

  • Retired History Professor, Director of the Centre for Rupert’s Land Studies and distinguished ethnohistorian, Dr. Jennifer S. H. Brown, has earned the rank of Professor Emerita.
  • The honour of Professor Emeritus has been earned by retired Classics Professor, Dr. Iain McDougall for his impressive contributions and impact on the Department of Classics during his 30 years of service to the University.

On Thursday, June 7th; 2:30 pm to 5:00 pm:

  •  Degrees will be conferred in Science and in Business & Economics.
  • An Honorary Doctorate of Laws will be conferred upon Hartley T. Richardson.
  • Lesley Sisler will be admitted to Fellowship in United College.
  • Brian Keenan will be admitted to Fellowship in United College.
  • Student Caleigh Christie will receive the Campus Sustainability Recognition Award.

On Friday, June 8th; 9:30 am to 12:00 noon:

  •  Degrees will be conferred in Theology, in Education, and in Masters in Marriage and Family Therapy.
  • An Honorary Doctorate of Letters will be conferred upon Diane McGifford.
  • Steve Coppinger will be admitted to Fellowship in United College.
  • Susan A. Thompson will receive the Distinguished Alumni Award.
