“We have a deep commitment to encouraging sustainable practices and active transportation,” said Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, President and Vice-Chancellor, UWinnipeg. “Today’s youth are committed to improving the health of our planet. With soaring gas prices, now more than ever, choosing UWinnipeg makes sustainable sense. Students can save cash while reducing their carbon footprint.”

One car driver uses more energy and creates more air pollution in just 4 years than a transit passenger does in forty years.

Last fall, The University of Winnipeg Student Association Bike Lab opened on campus. The Bike Lab offers free year-round programming to students, staff, faculty and community members including bike maintenance, safety workshops, advocacy and networking workshops, a registry and individualized support plan for all bikes on and around campus. UWinnipeg also offers free scooter parking for students and provides 200 to 300 bicycle racks on campus.
