Margo Wilson & Martin Daly at the Galapagos Islands
WINNIPEG, MB – The 2009 Elizabeth Laird Lecture discusses The Darwinian Psychology of Human Kinship featuring eminent specialists Dr. Martin Daly and Dr. Margo Wilson from McMaster University on Wednesday, March 11 at 7:30 pm, Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall. The lecture is free and open to the public and will be followed by a reception.
Understanding Evolution
Kinship is a central concept in the understanding of the evolution of social behaviour. Daly and Wilson will review the relevance of kinship to human cooperation and conflict.
Martin Daly
Martin Daly is a Professor of Psychology at McMaster University and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. He is the author of many influential papers on evolutionary psychology. His current research topics include an evolutionary perspective on risk-taking and interpersonal violence, especially male-male conflict and family violence.
Margo Wilson
Margo Wilson is Professor of Psychology at McMaster University and a Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada. Along with her frequent research partner Daly, she has written many influential papers and books in the field of evolutionary psychology.
Daly and Wilson are former editors-in-chief of the journal Evolution and Human Behavior and former presidents of the Human Behavior and Evolution Society.

Her bequest ensures that students, faculty, and community members at The University of Winnipeg and six other Canadian institutions can engage in lively scientific debate.
