Celebrating the 100th Convocation at UWinnipeg

The University of Winnipeg will honour former Chancellors, Presidents and other key individuals who have contributed to the institution’s success, at UWinnipeg’s 100th Convocation on Friday, October 18.

“As we mark this milestone in the history of the University, we will take pause to honour some key individuals who have contributed to the foundation and fabric of The University of Winnipeg over the last 46 years of its charter,” explained Dr. Lloyd Axworthy, President and Vice-Chancellor, UWinnipeg. “We want to acknowledge these individuals who embody so many of our institution’s values – such as commitment to academic excellence, dedication and generosity.”

The honour of Emeritus, a mark of distinguished service, will be bestowed upon former Chancellors and Presidents whose vision for this institution left a legacy at UWinnipeg. Chancellor Emeritus/Emerita will be bestowed upon H. Sanford Riley and Carol Shields (posthumous); they will join the ranks of Dr. John Bulman, Chancellor Emeritus. President Emeritus/Emerita will be bestowed upon former presidents Dr. Robin Farquhar, Dr. Marsha Hanen and Dr. Constance Rooke (posthumous), and bestowed once again upon Dr. Henry Duckworth (posthumous).

At this special convocation, a 100th Convocation Award will be given to recognize nine key individuals who have played an integral role in contributing to the viability and growth of UWinnipeg. The recipients will be Dr. Patrick Deane, Richard Graydon, Dr. Frank Hechter, Sherman Kreiner, Margaret McPherson, Debra Radi, Susan Thompson, Janet Walker and Carole Wylie.
