Celebrating International Culture Day at UWinnipeg

Take a trip around the world and celebrate the diversity of cultures on UWinnipeg’s campus at the fourth annual International Culture Day event on Thursday, November 2.

The celebration is presented by UWinnipeg’s International Student Services (ISS) team and will showcase food, music, performances, and displays from more than 20 countries.

Since it’s inception in 2014, International Culture Day has become an ISS signature event — one that sees the Bulman Centre reach capacity every year.

Iresha Hewa Wellalage, ISS Coordinator, says involvement from many of the 685 international students at UWinnipeg has been key to the event’s success.

“I think it’s because students take pride in celebrating their cultures, especially on campus where we bring all five continents together,” said Hewa Wellalage, adding that all of the individual performances and displays are created by students. “It’s a good learning experience for everybody.”

Students, staff, faculty, and the public are invited to join in the fun and learn about all the different cultures that make up our campus community.
