Business as usual on UWinnipeg Campus after major rainstorm

A number of buildings on The University of Winnipeg campus have been impacted (some more than others) by the heavy rainstorm that passed through the city last evening. UWinnipeg personnel worked quickly last night to assess the extent of damage, protect equipment as possible, and launch clean-up efforts on a priority basis. Preliminary clean-up and disinfecting related to areas impacted by sewage backup commenced last night.

The campus opened this morning as usual; clean-up continues and further remediation is under way. The most-impacted areas are being addressed first, including: student, teaching, and research spaces, as well as office areas and the event spaces that will be used for the coming week’s First-Year Orientation Sessions.

No interruptions to student orientations and classes in the coming weeks are anticipated.
