The book Sons and Mothers: Stories from Mennonite Men, edited by University of Winnipeg Writing Instructor Mary Ann Loewen, gathers together the stories of twelve men who reflect on the close, heartfelt–yet sometimes contentious–relationships they had with their mothers.

These reflections not only illuminate a relationship that is often overlooked or ridiculed–that of mother and son–but they also tell the nuanced stories of these women beyond their role as mother. While the stories are grounded in a Mennonite faith background, their themes of aging, hopes, and dreams hit a universal note.

The book launch takes place this Saturday, October 3, at 7:00 p.m. at McNally Robinson Books. Everyone is welcome and admission is free. For more information, please visit FaceBook.

Also, listen to CBC Radio One this Saturday morning as host Terry MacLeod discusses the book.
