3MT™ Competition returns

The 7th annual University of Winnipeg Graduate Studies 3-Minute Thesis Competition (3MT™) will be held on February 13 from 2:00 – 5:00 pm in Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall. 

With only three minutes and one static slide, nine brave students will explain their complex thesis ideas and research using simple language that is accessible to a wider audience.

These Master’s Students from a across disciplines will be competing for a $1,000 top prize and a $500 People’s Choice Award that is highly competitive.

This year’s judges include Nora Casson (Canada Research Chair, environmental influences on water quality, and associate professor in the Department of Geography), and Jino Distasio (Vice-President, Research and Innovation), and Lenard Monkman (associate producer, CBC Indigenous, and co-founder, Red Rising Magazine).

Don’t miss this exciting event that will have you at the edge of your seats and inspiring you to do your own exciting research at UWinnipeg.

The winner of this competition will then compete at the Western 3MT Competition at the University of Lethbridge in April with a chance to move on to the National 3MT. 

The 3MT™ is a research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland which challenges postgraduate degree students to make their research accessible.
