Congratulations to all the graduates and honourees of UWinnipeg’s 2018 Spring Convocation Ceremonies. The University of Winnipeg community honoured outstanding students, faculty, and staff. This includes the Valedictorians, Richard-Anthony Aquino, Tim Ireland, andJillian Sunderland; as well as eight exceptional members of the campus community personifying excellence and achievement, Linda Dietrick, Beverly Fehr, Colin Goff, Tanis Kolisnyk, Jeremy Leathers, Inga Johnson Mychasiw, Ken McCluskey, and Shannon Sampert.

Honorary Doctorates were given to three champions for vulnerable communities for their lifetime achievements: groundbreaking Métis author, playwright, and teacher Maria Campbell (in absentia); distinguished malaria researcher and Nobel Laureate Dr. Peter Agre; and well-respected Indigenous knowledge keeper Albert McLeod.

Following the Convocation ceremony on Friday, June 15, UWinnipeg renamed a prominent corridor on campus to recognize the distinguished legacy of Dr. Marsha Hanen — the University’s first female President and Vice-Chancellor. UWinnipeg is proud to permanently rename the Spence Street Mall as Marsha Hanen Way, for her lasting contributions and continued support.
