This past weekend the UWinnipeg Warmers participated in Canada’s National Walk for Homelessness, raising $2,219 for the hurting, homeless and hungry. The money supported the campaign for RaY – Resource Assistance for Youth, Inc.

The UWinnipeg team included (in alphabetical order) Kari Broadfoot, Brianna Junor, Kam Holland, Inga Johnson Mychasiw, Leanne Shumka, and Jennifer Trotman, as well as two allies of UWinnipeg, Glenn Holland and Dave Piott.

“As a downtown campus, and one strongly committed to opening doors for people, we wanted to be part of this worthwhile fundraiser,” said Holland, UWinnipeg’s Director, Admissions, Awards and Financial Aid. “Walking downtown in the cold with other people committed to improving lives felt wonderful.”

The Coldest Night of the Year is a family-friendly walking fundraiser that raises money for the hungry, homeless and hurting in 100+ communities across Canada.
