This Wednesday,  June 11, 2014, the Aboriginal People’s Television Network will feature UWinnipeg’s prestigious Master’s in Development Practice program (MDP) on In Focus program with host and UWinnipeg alum Cheryl McKenzie at 5:00pm CST*.

“The MDP is designed to teach development differently,” said Claire Reid, UWinnipeg Director, MDP. “The field placements are an integral component of the program. Students learn collaboratively, first-hand – from individuals and organizations that are practicing indigenous development in creative and unique ways. Our program is global, Indigenous, interdisciplinary and practical. This is why our students do development work differently.”

McKenzie will be speaking with MDP students and three of the MDP’s partner organizations, Assembly of Manitoba Chiefs, International Institute for Sustainable Development and UWinnipeg Water Rights Research Project (joint project w/ University of Manitoba) who are currently hosting students doing their field placements/practicums.

The segment also includes a student panel in which three MDP students; Heidi Cook, Nathan McCorrister and Naomi Gichungu will speak to the importance of Indigenous development.

APTN will  archive the story should you wish to view the segment after it airs on Wendesday. You can view it at MDP In Focus
