Dr. Neil Besner’s retirement photo gallery

The University of Winnipeg hosted a retirement party this month to honour of Dr. Neil Besner, who has served UWinnipeg for 30 years, and retires as the Provost and Vice President, Academic. Many friends and colleagues joined the event to bid him farewell through food, fun, song, and poetry. The afternoon’s bittersweet festivities were filled with laughter and tears.

The star-studded interdisciplinary line-up included (in order of musical appearance) Colleen Kwade (accessibility services) and Tessa Rogowski (accessibility services); Margaret Sweatman (English) and Glenn Buhr (composer); and Craig Willis (biology) and Friends. Poems were read by Murray Evans (English) and Annette Trimbee (President and Vice-Chancellor) and remarks were made by Catherine Hunter (English), Steven Lewis (friend), and Ed Byard (Biology). Jino Distasio (Vice-President, Research and Innovation and Director, Institute of Urban Studies) served as master of ceremonies.
