WINNIPEG, MB – Eminent specialist in neuroimaging, program leader and research officer at the NRC-IBD (Atlantic), Dr. Ryan D’Arcy will be speaking on Windows into Brain Function: Translating Neuroscience Research into Diagnostic Advances in Medicine on Tuesday, September 25, 2007 at 7:30 pm in Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall at The University of Winnipeg as part of the 2007 Laird Lecture Series.

D’Arcy is internationally recognized in the field of neuroscience: neural systems, cognitive neuroscience, clinical neuroscience, and neuropsychology. His research and use of imaging in high field magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), functional MRI, high-density electroencephalography (EEG), evoked potentials (EPs), event-related brain potentials (ERPs), source analysis, and transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS) is renowned across Canada.

The Laird Lecture Series was established by a bequest by Elizabeth Rebecca Laird. She wanted to create a public lecture fund to allow visiting lecturers from other regions of Canada to share their knowledge in either the field of science or the social sciences. Laird completed her PhD in 1901 and was a pioneer in the field of science. Her bequest ensures that students, faculty, and community members at The University of Winnipeg and six other Canadian institutions can engage in lively scientific debate.
