Jane’s Walk celebrates urban life this weekend

jinoWINNIPEG, MB – The University of Winnipeg’s Dr, Jino Distasio is once again participating in this year’s Jane’s Walk which celebrates the rich diversity of our urban neighbourhoods. The walks are free and open to all.

A Streetcar named Riverview: Rambling Down South Osborne’s History of Beer, Bears and Trains is a walk led by Jino Distasio, UWinnipeg’s Associate VP, Research and Innovation and Director, Institute of Urban Studies, life-long resident of Riverview

WHEN: Saturday, May 2, 2015 at 10:30 am
approximately 1 Hour, 30 Minutes

WHERE: Meet at 390 Osborne Street

About the walk

Is Morley and Osborne really the centre of the Universe? Did they brew beer on Osborne? Is Fort Rouge the capital of Manitoba? From breweries to fisticuffs, Riverview is an area steeped in history that includes a colourful cast of characters that have made the neighbourhood the best place to live in Canada. Come and walk through over 100 years of history.

Jane’s Walk celebrates the ideas and legacy of urbanist Jane Jacobs by getting people out exploring Winnipeg’s diverse and vibrant neighbourhoods.

Free walks held on the first weekend of May each year are led by locals who want to create a space for residents to talk about what matters to them in the places they live and work.
