Bond attendsCongratulations to the West End BIZ which today unveiled a new mural in the neighbourhood. Did you know The University of Winnipeg has a James Bond link?

In 1984, Sir William Stephenson made a significant gift to The University of Winnipeg to establish a scholarship in his name. Known by the code name Intrepid, Stephenson started off as a poor Winnipeg hardware salesman and ended up a Second World War spy legend and the inspiration for Ian Fleming’s hero, James Bond. In 1979, Sir William received an Honorary Doctorate degree from The University of Winnipeg. He passed away in Bermuda in 1989.
