Hidden talents shine at UWinnipeg’s Class Acts IX

All proceeds are donated to The University of Winnipeg General Scholarship Fund

Prepare to be entertained at the highly anticipated Class Acts 9, which returns to Eckhardt-Gramatté Hall on Friday, March 9 at 7:00 pm. The evening covers the musical and arts performance spectrum — from classical to blues, blended with magic, theatre, poetry, and clever comedy.

Class Acts highlights the hidden talents of a number of UWinnipeg’s faculty and staff. A highlight this year is that they are joined by a talented group of UWinnipeg Collegiate students led by Andraea Sartison. There are also some new musical combinations this year, including the Ukuladies, Colleen Kwade and Tessa Rogowski (Accessibility Office); and the Three Amigos, Neil Besner (former Vice-President, Academic), Ed Byard (Biology) and Ryan Bullock (Environmental Studies).

Returning to the Class Acts stage are pianist Murray Evans (English); the blues band The Blasphemers, made up of Angela Failler, (Sociology/Women’s Studies) and Craig Willis (Biology); magician James Currie (Provost and Vice-President, Academic); as well as trumpet/piano duo Tanis Kolisnyk (Student Services) and her son Nick. The eccentric and funny court jester/wordsmith, Paul Friesen (Library), is again ready please the crowd with his witty verses.

Come early and enjoy the pre-concert happy hour (beginning at 6:00 pm) in the foyer of Eckhardt-Grammaté Hall where there will be a cash bar and appetizers donated by Diversity Foods.

All the proceeds from the event will be donated to The University of Winnipeg General Scholarship Fund. Class Acts is the brainchild of Marion Tetrault and has raised over $30,000 for scholarships since the inaugural show in 2002.

Tickets are $20 for faculty and staff and $10 for students. They are available at the door or in advance at:
