Heads Up Dinner June 2

WINNIPEG, MB – The Manitoba Brain Injury Association (MBIA) and The University of Winnipeg Athletic Therapy Students’ Association, in partnership with Manitoba Hydro, present the 7th Annual Heads Up Dinner and Auction. Here are the event details:

7TH Annual Heads Up Dinner & Auction

Wednesday, June 2, 2010 – Doors open at 6:00 pm

Riddell Hall, University of Winnipeg, 385 Spence Street

In this unique fundraiser, game-worn helmets and other sports memorabilia donated by professional sports teams and athletes are sold in a live auction. The helmets are the `heads up’ in promoting the prevention and care of brain injuries. Where else will you find:

  • A Canadian Alpine Skiing Legend
  • Vancouver 2010 Olympic Medalist memorabilia (including an autographed Jon Montgomery skeleton helmet) up for auction and
  • Dinner from an award-winning chef?

Only at the 7th Annual Heads Up Dinner & Auction, Wednesday, June 2, 2010!

Previous auctions featured helmets donated from the likes of the Winnipeg Blue Bombers, Calgary Stampeders, BC Lions and New York Rangers. This year’s event features autographed helmets from the Olympic Women’s Gold Medal Winning Hockey Team and Russell, Manitoba’s own Skeleton `Golden Boy,’ Jon Montgomery.

This year’s guest speaker is Alpine Skiing Legend Dave Irwin, one of the so-called “Crazy Canucks,” who suffered a serious head injury on the slopes in 2001.

Tickets are $100 each ($50 tax receipt). For tickets or more information contact MBIA at 975-3280 or visit www.mbia.ca or www.wesmen.ca. Doors open at 6:00pm at The University of Winnipeg’s Riddell Hall, 385 Spence. Dinner is provided by Diversity Foods, led by Chef Ben Kramer and his team – recent winners of the 2010 Winnipeg Iron Chef Award.
