The UWinnipeg community is advised that the floor of the Dr. David F. Anderson Gymnasium will be renovated this spring, beginning on March 27. The project will involve a complete rebuild of centre court, including a new subfloor and finished hardwood surface with painted lines. Spot repairs will be made to the east and west courts, and both areas will be sanded, refinished, and repainted.

These renovations represent the latest enhancement to the facility, and will help it shine as a venue for the 2017 Canada Summer Games. Other upgrades in recent years include the installation of new bleachers, repainting of the entire gymnasium, replacement of the walking/running track, and the addition of energy-efficient lighting.

The Recreation Services department and Physical Plant will work with the flooring contractor to address issues such as construction noise and staff access to storage areas.

The gym floor renovation will be completed by mid-June in time for Spring Convocation. Further updates will be provided to the campus community as the project start date draws near.
