Governor General Literary Poet Katherena Vermette speaks at UWinnipeg

Award winning writer, Katherena Vermette will be speaking on her new book, The Break, on Wednesday, November 23, at 12:00 pm at the UWinnipeg Urban and Inner-City Studies North End campus, 527 Selkirk Avenue, lower level. All are welcome.

Katherena Vermette is a Métis writer from Treaty One territory, the heart of the Métis nation, Winnipeg. Her first book, North End Love Songs (The Muses Company) won the 2013 Governor General Literary Award for Poetry. Her short doc, This River (National Film Board of Canada), and her novel, The Break (House of Anansi), were both released in fall 2016. Her talk will focus on her own experiences growing up in and in relationship to the North End, and becoming a writer, and her new book The Break.
