English Language Program seeks volunteers

Language Partner Program

The University of Winnipeg English Language Program is looking for YOU to be a language partner. Language Partners are fluent speaking English Volunteers who spend one hour a week with an English as an Additional Language (EAL) learner. The program lasts for 12 weeks and at the end of completing 12 hours of volunteer work you will receive a reference letter from the University.

With your language partner you can go for a walk, for coffee, go shopping, attend a movie, cook together etc. This program provides additional practice for students outside of the classroom to improve their English skills. It is also a very rewarding experience for the volunteers and many friendships have been gained through this language partner program.

This coming Wednesday (September 17th) students in the English Language Program will be requesting a language partner so your help is needed as soon as possible. Students and partners will be matched towards the end of September.

If you would like to be a part of this program and gain experience with International Students please email j.sakuta@uwinnipeg.ca, call Julie at 982-1151, or visit http://www.uwinnipeg.ca/index/elp-partner to learn more and download an application.

Looking forward to having you as a volunteer!
