Campus campaign raises more than $730,000

A Campus Campaign celebration event took place on March 12, 2015 at Convocation Hall.

UWinnipeg’s faculty, staff, retirees, and other members of the campus community are once again among the most committed and generous supporters of our students and University.

More than 325 campus donors participated in the 2014 Campus Campaign, which ended on December 31, 2014 raising more than $732,000, an increase of 3.1% over the 2013 Campaign.

Donors gave in support of many different areas of need including student scholarships and bursaries (62.06% of new gifts and pledges), and department, faculty, and campus-wide Future Funds (19.31% of new gifts and pledges).

“UWinnipeg attracts incredibly dedicated faculty and staff, who are consistently generous both with their time and resources. My sincere thanks to everyone who helped make the 2014 Campus Campaign such a success,” said Dr. Annette Trimbee, President and Vice-Chancellor, UWinnipeg.

“In my experience, this level of participation in fundraising is uncommon for a post-secondary institution; our campus community can feel very proud not only of the experiences that we create for our students, but also of the level of financial commitment with which we support our students and workplace,” said Brian Daly, UWinnipeg Foundation President and CEO.

In addition to monetary donations, many on campus also gave generously of their time and energy as volunteers for the Campaign. Daly attributes the continued success of the Campaign to their inspiration and dedication, recognizing in particular Campaign Co-Chairs Neil Besner, Grace O’Farrell, and Orval Voakes:

“We are thrilled that Neil, Grace, and Orval will be reprising their roles in 2015. I am confident that the spirit of generosity on campus will continue to thrive under their leadership.”

2015 marks the third consecutive year of the Campus Campaign, UWinnipeg’s annual internal fundraising campaign. With a focus on strengthening support for entrance awards, research initiatives, and program enrichment, the Foundation encourages all faculty, staff, retirees, and other close friends of the University to become involved.
