Bommersbach Named Canada West All-Star

The University of Winnipeg Wesmen in conjunction with the Canada West Universities Athletics Association is pleased to announce that fourth year Men’s Volleyball player
David Bommersbach has been named to the Canada West Men’s Volleyball Conference Second All-Star team for the 2016-2017 season.

Bommersbach a 6’3” outside hitter was a starter for the Wesmen in 21 regular season matches, leading the team in kills with 222 (18th in Canada West Conference). He also finished the 2016-17 regular season with 114 digs, 28 blocks and 10 service aces. Bommersbach recorded a season high 21 kills, 13 dig performance in a five set victory at Calgary on November 12th, 2016.

“David is a consistent outside attacker who possesses a great serve. He has followed up last year’s all-star selection with another one which is a great accomplishment. Our team is very proud of David’s selection”, said Wesmen head coach Larry McKay.

Bommersbach is a local product who has been coached in the past by his high school coach Tim Au at Miles Macdonell, along with Don Dulder (18U), Tony Mravnik (17U) and his 16U club coach Mike Stephens. 

This year’s selection is his third Canada West recognition. He was named to the 2015-2016 Second All-Star Team and was selected to the Canada West All-Rookie team following the 2013-2014 season.
