Alan Wiebe receives international award

UWinnipeg congratulates  Alan Wiebe, Faculty of Education, who recently received international recognition for his provincial, national, and international contributions in the Areas of Mentoring and Community Outreach.

The Program Development Award was handed out in Rijeka, Croatia on May 22, 2016 by the International Centre for Innovation in Education, which is committed to the development of all learners as productive world citizens and leaders of the future.

Wiebe also delivered a Keynote Address at the conference based on the recent publication of the monograph, of which he is lead author, entitled, “Connecting with At-Risk Children and Youth through Mentoring: Ten Elements to Consider.” Approximately 450 educators from 60 countries attended the conference.

Currently the Community Outreach Mentorship Coordinator at UWinnipeg, Wiebe has worked in many capacities helping to develop programming for “at risk” youth. He is lead author on the forthcoming text, “Mentoring for Talent Development in the North American Context.”
