2017 is special for The University of Winnipeg as we celebrate our 50th anniversary with a year of events and activities. We have created two unique funds in honour of the anniversary to support students – the   50th Anniversary Opportunity Fund Bursary and the 50th Anniversary Entrance Scholarship.

Tickets are available on campus Mondays and Wednesdays from 11 am to 1 pm in Riddell Hall; at the Foundation office on the 9th Floor of the Rice Building, as well as during Wesmen Games and other special events throughout the year. Winners do not have to be present to win the prize, but must present the winning ticket to claim the prize.

Tickets are just $5 each; $10 for three tickets or $20 for ten tickets and the winner could win a maximum of $5,000, based on how many tickets are sold.  The first draw will be held on January 9, 2017 at 12 pm.

Everyone can help support these two new funds by purchasing 50/50 raffle tickets. The goal is to run four raffles of $10,000 throughout the year.

UWinnipeg’s Opportunity Fund helps ensure access to post-secondary education for everyone, regardless of socioeconomic background, and especially supports youth from inner-city neighbourhoods, Indigenous students, and young people from war-affected nations and refugee populations. The 50th Anniversary Opportunity Fund Bursary will help address the immediate needs of students by awarding them $1,000.

Support to UWinnipeg’s Entrance Scholarships is a guaranteed investment in the future — helping today’s students become tomorrow’s leaders.  The University’s 50th Anniversary Entrance Scholarship will award $1,000 to a number of deserving students.

The level of participation in each raffle will determine the number of scholarships and bursaries awarded in 2017.
